6th Clydebank Scouts are preparing for an exciting trip to Prague later in the year. The group has a history of overseas adventures dating back to 1949 where they initially forged ties with 1st Laksevag Scouts in Norway.
The decision to visit Prague (in Czechia) this year was influenced by many factors, having previously visited places such as Norway, Austria & Germany the troop were looking to visit somewhere new. Prague has an abundance of attractions that are really accessible for the Scouts with efficient public transport to aid them in exploring the local areas.
The Scouts are particularly eager to collaborate with the 1st Prague British Overseas Scout Group, who have generously offered accommodation in their central Prague building. There will be many highlights of the trip but the Scouts are looking forward to an audience with the British Ambassador, alongside numerous planned visits to iconic sites such as Prague Castle, Vyšehrad Castle and the Charles Bridge, to name a few.
Fundraising efforts have been underway since last year. Upcoming fundraisers include a quiz night, gin and wine tasting, and a family race night, alongside sponsored walks and bucket collections. Additionally, some leaders are planning on participating in the Edinburgh Kiltwalk to raise further funds.
We look forward to seeing photographs from their adventures. Stay tuned for updates.
