As 2024 draws to a close, we would like to take a moment to say a big ‘Thank you’ to Barbara MacDonald, who is stepping down as our District Lead Volunteer at the end of this month. Since she began her journey as District Commissioner back in October 2021, Barbara has dedicated countless hours, hard work and commitment to Scouting in Dunbartonshire.
During her time we have witnessed the District grow significantly. We have seen an increase in both the number of volunteers and young people that are involved with Scouting across our twelve Scout Groups, opened new provision for our youngest members, for those with additional support needs and for those living in areas of deprivation, all whilst increasing the number of events and camps held across the District.
In the background, Barbara has also steered and supported our volunteers through changes to our organisation’s rules, Safety and Safeguarding, the launch of a new adult membership system and a new structure for our District and Groups.
District Chair Anna had the pleasure of presenting Barbara with a thank you gift at our Beaver Christmas Funday, a small token of our appreciation for her dedication and hard work. While Barbara may be stepping back from her District Lead role, we are thrilled that she will continue to be involved in volunteering with us at a Group level.
Once again, we thank Barbara for all of her hard work, and look forward to seeing her at future District events.
